Movie Review : Director Gaurav has chosen a script that warrants a lot of intelligence both in the screenplay and in the crime techniques associated, around which the movie travels.

Vikram Prabhu’s appearance as a police officer is justifying and the actor seems to be making it a point to choose the scripts that matches his physical appearance aptly. Sathyaraj is respectful as a sincere police officer.

Monal Gajjar, the female lead in the movie, plays the role of a doctor and also Vikram Prabhu’s love interest. Although her part in the movie is very brief, involving the song sequences and a few love portions in the first half, it is her character’s adamant nature that pushes the story into an important twist after which the movie paces to its climax.

Sathyaraj’s character has been etched out well and the director has been keen on pointing out things as tiny as him paying money at a tea stall, in spite of being a police officer. The process involved in the ‘money refilling’ in ATMs, have been shot in a very intriguing manner and the portrayal of how money is being stolen from ATMs are good examples of the intelligence in the script.

Praveen KL’s editing definitely needs a special mention in the movie as the cuts and transitions are extremely pleasing, playing a very important aspect in the racy second half. The editing has been neatly complemented with some interesting point of view camera (POV) angles that have been used in abundance in the movie.

Imman’s background music plays a neat role in the script, especially during the pre climax action sequence.

Although the movie has been interestingly scripted and the central actors have done their parts well, It feels a bit lengthy and too much time is spent on the romantic track (which happens over a pilgrimage), and despite some imaginative picturisation, the songs aren't integrated well into the script. There are also unnecessary attempts at comedy, and it is during these instances that we look back fondly at Arima Nambi, which smartly avoided such audience-pleasing elements.

Nevertheless, the success secret for any action movie is to keep things interesting and never let the audience wonder about logic and plausibility. Sigaram Thodu largely succeeds in this and even manages to be both an emotional drama between a father and his son and a thriller on ATM robbery.

Produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur under the banner UTV Motion Pictures.

Verdict : An enjoyable thriller with a little less engaging first half.

Rating : 2.75 / 5
