Veteran Director announces Retirement

S.A.Chandrasekar, one of the most renowned directors in Tamil cinema and also he father of ‘Ilayathalapathi’ Vijay has announced retirement from his film career.

The veteran has said that ‘Touring Talkies’ the film, which he is presently directing will be his last film as a director.

The shooting of ‘Touring Talkies ‘is currently taking place in Theni district. The director met the Media representatives yesterday and announced his retirement. Fondly addressed by the film industry people and others as SAC, the filmmaker has shot to fame with ‘Sattam Oru Iruttarai’ the film whose success played a pivotal role in elevating actor Vijaykanth to the star status. The director has so far directed 68 films which includes Superstar starrer ‘Naan Sigappu Manidhan’ which was a blockbuster hit and a handful of films with his son Vijay in the lead role with ‘Rasigan’ being the notable one among them.

SAC has said that ‘Touring Talkies’ which is his 69th directorial which will be a blend of three different stories in which he will be acting in an important role. The 70 year old director, said that owing to the request of his son to take rest, he has announced will be closing the curtains after finishing this film.

The director also requested fans to not mislead by rumors relating to ‘Kaththi’ the 57th film of Vijay directed by A.R.Murugadoss. He assured that the film will release as planned.
